Cost of energy to reduce in Ghana

The cost of the country’s energy production is set to reduce, as Ghana’s gas resources record an increase.

With the Sankofa Gye-nyame gas fields coming on stream, Chairman of the Technical Committee of the PURC, Ishmael Agyekumhene is hopeful, that energy cost will reduce drastically.

He is however skeptical of a reduction in tariffs given a weak local currency.

Mr. Agyekumhene noted that with the cost of solar reducing with the introduction of technology, the cost of energy is to reduced further.

Meanwhile, players in the solar value chain have been introduced to the latest cost of saving technologies in the solar space.

Managing Director of Trojan Battery, Micheal Grandke noted that the initial cost of high solar has proven to be cost effective especially in West Africa.
