COVID-19 National Trust Fund accrues over ¢44 million

The COVID-19 National Trust Fund set up by the government to mitigate the impact of the novel Coronavirus, has accrued more than ¢44 million, almost two months after its establishment.

The amount excludes other items such as vehicles and food items valued at thousands of Ghana cedis.

The Chairperson of the Fund, Justice Sophia Akuffo, announced this when she distributed 12 vehicles to some Isolation and Treatment centres across the country.

The beneficiary institutions are Zinal Public Health Isolation Centre Laboratory, Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research, Central Care Management Team, University of Health and Allied Sciences, Covid-19 Testing Centre and the Pentecost Convention Hospital Isolation Centre.

The rest are the Tamale National Public Health Laboratory, University of Ghana Medical Centre, LEKMA Hospital, Kumasi -South Regional Hospital, Veterinary Division Laboratory, National Public Health Reference Laboratory at Korle-Bu and the Tema General Hospital.

Justice Akuffo again pledged to ensure judicious application of the Funds received. She appealed to the donor community to continue to support the COVID-19 fight through their generous contributions.
