A month after the closure of Schools due to the coronavirus pandemic, some Teachers and staff of Private Schools are unhappy about their poor standard of living because of the non-payment of their salaries.

It is against this background that the Ghana Nation Council of Private Schools, GNACOPS, is appealing for financial support from government to enable its members survive the indefinite closure of schools due to the COVID-19.

Speaking to GBC’s Radio Ghana, the Executive Director of GNACOPS, Enoch Jetuah explained that Private Schools particularly teachers and other staff are enduring untold hardship because of the closure leading to the non-payment of salaries during the period.

He said GNACOPS is therefore calling on government to also provide loans at reasonable rates and repayment terms to distressed schools to pay staff salaries and exempt them from the payment of SSNIT and GRA contribution till a month after schools re-open.

They are also asking for the suspension of bank loan repayments for distressed schools to resume after schools re-open.
