Police Anti-Armed Robbery Task Force nab 17 persons with unlicensed weapons at Donkorkrom

The Anti-Armed Robbery Task Force and the Donkorkrom Police have arrested 17 persons with unregistered weapons at Donkorkrom in the Eastern Region. The weapons include pistols and machetes. The Eastern Regional Police Public Affairs Officer, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh, told GBC News that the suspects are in Police custody with investigations ongoing, after which they would  be processed for Court.

“Anti-Arm robbery Taskforce that was recently formed and assisted by the National Police Headquarters in a joint exercise with personnel from the Donkorkrom division and districts have arrested 17 persons in Donkorkrom with weapons that are not registered. The 17 persons were in possession of machetes, one foreign pistol, three locally manufactured among others. The Donkorkrom Police District Command is holding them for possession of firearms without lawful authority. The police are currently investigating the matter and when investigations are concluded, the suspects will be arraigned and put before court” he stated.
