The Council for Science and Industrial Research (CSIR) and the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) have signed a memorandum of understanding in Accra.
The MOU is aimed at ensuring successful organization of an upcoming industrial innovation fair to harness innovation and technology for industrial growth and resilience.
In today’s rapidly evolving world, where the forces of technology, globalization, and digitalization are reshaping economies, it is essential for Ghana to adapt and embrace innovation.
Ghana’s industrial sector holds tremendous potential, and it is the responsibility of Ghanaians to leverage it for sustainable growth, job creation, and overall economic prosperity.
The signing of the MOU between the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, marks an important step towards bridging the gap between the needs of Ghanaian industries and the vast potential in research and innovation.
This MOU also sets the stage for the organization of a highly anticipated industrial innovation fair to serve as a platform to foster collaboration, showcase cutting-edge research, and drive the development and adoption of innovative solutions that meet the specific needs of our industries.
The Director-General of the CSIR, Prof. Paul Bosu reiterated that the partnership would provide the opportunity for industry players to engage scientists and innovators to provide relevant technologies for business operations.
He said his office will work very hard to make sure that the fair is successful not to only benefit CSIR but will also benefit industry players and most importantly our country, and the country will derive the benefits it deserves.
He was on the same page as the President of Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Clement Osei Amoako.
He said the Industrial Innovation Fair is a testament to the collective commitment of the GNCCI and the CSIR to leverage the power of Research, Science, and Technology to propel Ghana’s industries to new heights of Innovation, Productivity, and Global competitiveness.
He added the fair aims to facilitate the transfer of research findings and technological advancements into practical applications that directly address the challenges faced by our industries.
“By bridging the gap between Ghanaian industry needs and the vast potential of research, science and technology, we can unlock unprecedented opportunities for growth, sustainability, and prosperity. It is worth emphasizing the crucial role that the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry plays in driving industrial growth in our country. As the voice of Ghanaian businesses, we are committed to fostering an enabling environment that encourages innovation, promotes entrepreneurship, and supports the growth and competitiveness of our Industries.”
Mr. Osei Amoako reiterated that GNCCI serves as a conduit between industry and research institutions, facilitating collaboration, knowledge exchange, and technology transfer. He said in our current economic and financial challenges, it is imperative that businesses are not just prudent with their scarce resources but also leverage research and technology to meet the changing needs of the market.
He says the partnership they forge with CSIR is an embodiment of our commitment to addressing the needs of Industry through research.
He added by bringing together Industry leaders, Researchers, Policymakers, and key stakeholders to engage in fruitful discussions, knowledge sharing, and the exploration of mutually beneficial partnerships to create a platform that does not only address the immediate challenges faced by our industries but also lays the foundation for a thriving ecosystem of innovation in the long run.
