CSIR pushes for food security in Ghana

The Director General of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Prof. Victor Agyeman, has appealed to government to come up with robust policies to guarantee food security in the country.
He was addressing an open day as part of activities marking the Council’s 60th anniversary at Bunso in the Eastern Region.
He spoke on the core mandate of the CSIR and called for more resources to be committed to Science, Innovation and Technology to develop the country at a faster rate.
The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Prof. Kwabena Frimpong Boateng in a speech read on his behalf asked staff of the Plant Genetic Resource Research Institute to continue to deepen their engagement with the public and industry to facilitate the uptake of the numerous technologies developed by the Council.
