Former President Jerry John Rawlings has asked the Electoral Commission (EC) to thoroughly examine the debate surrounding the voters register. This should be done before a firm decision is taken.

Former President Jerry John Rawlings said this is necessary in order not to undermine the values of election in this country.

Speaking at the 41st virtual June 4 Uprising celebration in Accra, former President Rawlings said such agitations should not be treated with discontent.

Former President Jerry John Rawlings also asked the media and some social and political commentators to desist from distorting the main ideals of the June 4 Uprising.

According to him, there are so many historical untruths and distortion being peddled on media platforms and the internet and these untruths erase the values that the Uprising stood for.

Former President Rawlings said there is the need to reflect and re-examine ourselves and our conduct as a country to be aligned to Probity, Accountability, Integrity and Social Justice.

Former President Rawlings also spoke on the need to deal with corrupt officials whose intention is to amass wealth to the detriment of the vulnerable in society.
