Deputy Health Minister engages students at Goaso Nursing Training College

The Deputy Minister for Health, Prof. Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah, has engaged students of the Nursing and Midwifery Training College at Goaso in the Ahafo Region, as part of her working visit to the area.

The visit was to enable the Deputy Minister to interact with students and assess their welfare and training conditions.

Addressing the students, Prof. Ayensu-Danquah stressed that health training institutions remain the foundation of quality healthcare delivery in the country. She noted that such institutions play a critical role in shaping competent and professional nurses and midwives to serve the nation.

The Deputy Minister reaffirmed Government’s commitment to transitioning health training institutions into Bachelor of Science degree-awarding institutions. She explained that the move is aimed at improving academic standards, enhancing career progression, and aligning training with modern healthcare demands.

Prof. Ayensu-Danquah disclosed that about 42 health training colleges have completed the required assessments and are awaiting accreditation to begin degree programmes.

Students who interacted with the Deputy Minister expressed appreciation for the visit and described the engagement as encouraging and impactful.
