After years of talk about the new series, Drake finally debuted a teaser for the forthcoming Top Boy season, coming to Netflix this autumn.

The God’s Plan rapper took a moment out of the concert to play a teaser of the show’s anticipated season three and needless to say, fans were thrilled.

In the minute-long trailer, familiar faces from previous Top Boy seasons return, including Ashley Walters as drug dealer Dushane, and Kane “Kano” Robinson as Sully.

Other cast members confirmed for the new series, include Michael Ward, Simbi Ajikawo, David Omoregie, and Shone Romulus.

A female voiceover is heard saying: ‘Everyone around here thinks they’re a big man. They live in this mad world where anyone can get it.

‘The olders are washed, the youngers fear nothing. And everyone wants to be a Top Boy.’

Scenes of London’s tower blocks are interspersed with beatings, car chases and characters running through the capital’s streets at night.

Basically, it’s all very dramatic. In January, some of the cast were pictured filming an intense standoff scene with armed police pointing their guns at a suspect, played by British rapper Dave.

However, the trailer is the first real glimpse of the new series, since Drake announced he had bought the rights to the former Channel 4 series in 2016. The Canadian rapper has been a fan of the gritty drama for years and tweeted to Walters in 2014: ‘@ashleywalters82 is too incredible!! Everybody on Top Boy gives such incredible performances. That show is just too good.’

Speaking on the show’s return, Walters said: ‘Top Boy is a raw, real representation of street culture.

‘It explores how these characters came to make the choices they make, and gives the audience a behind-the-scenes look as to what is happening on our streets today.’

He added: ‘It needs to be talked about and the show doesn’t shy away from giving us the platform to tell our story. We can’t change things if we do not acknowledge it and understand it first.

‘Netflix is the perfect platform for this show, there aren’t many networks who would be brave enough to keep it this real.’

Teasing Drizzy’s involvement, Walters told The Mirror in 2017: ‘We met up to start talking about the show and we are working out a role for him.

‘He loves acting, of course he wanted a part. He’s going to be really hands on and is getting stuck into it.’
