The Krontihene of the New Juaben Traditional area, Baffuor Nyantakyi Tutu Boateng has proposed to the DVLA to create a Medical Unit in their various centres to help determine the fitness of drivers before issuing them license.

He believes the Medical Unit will help to reduce road accidents since most drivers are suffering from illnesses that render them unfit to use drive.

Nana Tutu Boateng was speaking at the commissioning of a new DVLA office in Koforidua, the Eastern regional capital.

He challenged the Authority to be more proactive in the discharge of its duties by continuously educating the public on road traffic regulations to help reduce road accidents in the region.

The Eastern Regional Minister, Eric Kwakye Darfuor, commended staff of the DVLA for exhibiting professionalism in carrying out their duties since no complaints have been received from the public regarding their operations in the region.

The Board Chairman of DVLA, Frank Davies advised the staff to be receptive to their clients and eschew all kinds of negative practices such as lateness and absenteeism from work which will dent the reputation of the institution.

The Eastern Regional Director of DVLA, Sylvester Makwei expressed gratitude for the new office and gave the assurance that the office will be used for its intended purpose.
