The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa, is expected to appear before Parliament this week to speak on the long-standing issues surrounding the Ablekuma North parliamentary election.
Since the December 7, 2024 general elections, the Ablekuma North Constituency has been without a Member of Parliament. This is due to a dispute over the collation of results from some polling stations, which has left the final outcome unresolved for over six months.
On June 4, 2025, the Minority in Parliament submitted a petition to the Ghana Police Service, asking for adequate security to allow the EC to safely and transparently complete the collation process.

Jean Mensa is scheduled to brief the Committee of the Whole in Parliament on steps taken so far to resolve the issue. During the session, Members of Parliament are expected to ask questions and seek clear answers regarding the Electoral Commission’s plans and timeline for completing the collation and announcing the final results.
The people of Ablekuma North have been left without representation in Parliament since the December 7 election.
