Education should make students hungry for information- Educationist

Ghana as a country is too enamored with paper qualifications which does not augur well for the future of our youth and the country at large.

There is therefore the urgent and immediate need for the educational authorities and all to seriously take a crucial view of the current school curricular, especially for the first and second cycle institutions for the inculcation of our immediate needs into the young ones.

In his annual report at the 11th graduation of the Rising Star School and Cultural Centre at Community 18, Lashibi, the Director of the school, Michael Attipoe said the global reality of today demands a change in the way the country generally looked at its education.

He said it was good for pupils and students to have good knowledge of their immediate needs and they must be taught how to be hungry for information to enable them take informed and relevant decisions that will help them lead meaningful lives.

The Chairman for the graduation ceremony, Kweku Sersah-Johnson, a Communication Specialist called on the graduating students to be guarded by discipline and determination as they go on to the next phase of their academic pursuit.

He commended the Rising Star School and Community Centre for their rich curricular which includes serious attention to Cultural and vocational studies.

The Guest Speaker, George Baah-Danquah, a Chartered Accountant cautioned students not to spend their time and productive hours on Social Media but to always weigh the opportunity cost of it.

Speaking on the theme for the graduation ‘Our Values, Our Faith Our Drive’, Mr. Baah Danquah said excellence in all aspects of life and education must be the watchword of the students and their parents.

The Headmaster of the School, Richmond Mifetoo said the Rising Star  focuses on teaching students to discover their potentials and themselves themselves and to become relevant in the ever changing world.

Rising Star School and Cultural Centre is a first and second cycle institution.
