Over 200 teachers have benefited from a two-day Artificial Intelligence (AI) workshop held in Ho, the Volta Regional capital.

The workshop, which took place at the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) Conference Hall, was organized by Jesi AI, a startup currently part of the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship Cohort 2, supported by the Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology(MEST). The training session was also held in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service (GES), Ho Municipal Directorate, and Jangala(UK-based non-profit).

Teachers from various schools in the municipality were introduced to Jesi AI, a tool designed to make teaching easier and learning more effective for pre-tertiary teachers and students across Ghana.

Program and Community Lead, Miss Perfect Amegboe, explained that the tool is aimed at enhancing teaching and learning while providing real-time insights that support productivity and improve learning outcomes.

She encouraged all teachers to embrace Jesi AI, reminding them that the goal is not to compete with AI but to collaborate with it, ultimately shaping smarter and more confident learners for the future.

Jesi AI offers customized lesson plans, subjective and multiple-choice questions, and virtual classroom features that allow teachers and students to interact with the model through chat and prepare for exams aligned with the Ghanaian curriculum.

The initiative aims to equip teachers with AI tools that enhance their work and directly improve the learning outcomes of their students.

An AI Engineer with Jesi AI, Felix Sam Nanor, explained that the platform will help teachers deliver lessons more effectively, drastically reduce the time spent preparing lesson notes, and generate tailored and customized questions for students.

“We found that most teachers spend a lot of hours preparing lesson notes and student assessments and end up with little time to teach,” Felix said.

“So what we are trying to do is bridge that particular gap. Jesi AI allows teachers to streamline their lesson plans based on the GES curriculum,” he added.

“Jesi AI ensures that teachers spend less time writing and more time delivering and supporting their learners.”

The Public Relations Officer of the Ho Municipal Education Directorate, Elvis Kofi Bomassah, revealed that the ultimate goal of the workshop is to make the platform accessible to all educators, potentially through zero-rated data plans.

He added that the Jesi AI tool will significantly enhance the teaching and learning process.

“The Municipal Education Directorate, in partnership with Jesi AI and other partners, is providing this two-day training to equip teachers with the knowledge to effectively incorporate AI tools into their classroom practices,” he said.
“Our ultimate goal is to ensure this translates into better results, such as improved BECE performance among our learners.”

“We believe this will also help students become smarter in the classroom and lead to better learning outcomes over time,” he added.

Mr. Bomassah further stated that Jesi AI has been specifically modeled to align with the current Ghana Education Service (GES)-approved curriculum, unlike general AI tools.

“The unique thing about Jesi AI is that it was developed and modeled according to our approved curriculum. Other AI tools are more general, but this one is specific because we want to solve a particular problem,” he said.

Teachers who attended the event expressed enthusiasm about the Jesi AI program, citing its transformative potential.

One of the participants, ICT teacher Doris Kaledzi of the Regional Model School, remarked that the program will enhance her students’ learning experience and boost her confidence in using AI in the classroom.

“I’ll be able to teach, engage my students, create a virtual classroom, and let my students join lessons online,” she said.

“These AI-driven tools have been a game changer for me. They have boosted my confidence in engaging students more effectively, especially in topics like AI and robotics.”

The municipality plans to expand Jesi AI’s availability across the Volta Region after refining it based on feedback from teachers.

This initiative seeks to empower teachers with AI through focused programs and partnerships, shaping the future of education in Ghana.

A follow-up training session is scheduled for September to offer advanced AI-driven teaching and learning support to educators.
