Accra Academy marks 92nd Founders’ Day celebration

Accra Academy has marked its 92nd Founders Day celebration with a call on the students to emulate the selflessness, sacrifice and patriotism exhibited by the school’s founding fathers. The students were encouraged to read and research modern technologies to develop innovations to solve societal problems.

Established on July 20, 1931, Accra Academy is one of the renowned secondary schools in the country, with the aim of providing excellent and affordable education to students from less-endowed communities.

The 92nd Founders’ celebration united management, teachers, alumni and students.

Speaking on the theme; the vision of the founders, relevance after 90 years in the current technological world; the president of the ‘’beleoo 99’’ badge and Senior Communications Advisor at Tullow Oil Ghana

Bleoobi Anani Yao Kuwornu urged the students to hold high the virtues exhibited by the founders of the school which has transformed Accra Academy. Teachers on the other hand, were encouraged to adopt modern technology to remain relevant in the changing trend of teaching methods. He was speaking in an interview with GBC News.

Bleoobi Anani Yao Kuwornu called for reforms to change Ghana’s educational curriculum to prepare students for the contemporary job market. He also charged the school’s alumni to support the development of the school. 

The head of the business department at Accra Academy, Mr. Daniel Lamptey, said the Founder’s Day has over the years helped change the mindset of the students to be committed to the values of the school.

The Accra Academy Founders’ Day is held each year in honour of four courageous personalities – George Kofi Konuah, James Akwei Halm-Addo, Samuel Neils Awuletey and Godfried Narku Alema who contributed to the establishment and development of the school Accra.
