Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has called on Teacher Unions calling for a change in this year’s BECE because of the Coronavirus scare, to adhere to the President’s social distancing protocol, to prepare the candidates for the examination.
He said though he shares the concerns raised by the various teacher unions, the BECE candidates have enough space for effective teaching and learning.
He asked the teachers to strictly follow the health protocols.
Dr. Adu Twum said the Ministry and the Ghana Education Service will assist the teachers to prepare the candidates for the examination.
General Secretary of the Ghana National Association of Teachers, Thomas Musah, however, noted, that the lives of the candidates are equally important, hence the call for a change in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) timetable.
He said it is difficult for teachers to keep the social distancing protocols when it comes to teaching.
