A teacher of Baapelug Junior High School in the Talensi District of the Upper East Region, Madam Tenga Monica, has commended the Member of Parliament for the area, Daniel Mahama, for initiating the construction of a new classroom block for the school.

Last Saturday, the MP officially cut sod for the construction of a 3-unit classroom block, a project aimed at improving the learning environment for students of Baapelug JHS. The event drew teachers, students, community leaders, and residents, who expressed joy and appreciation for the long-awaited project.

“This will be a relief to the children. I just can’t wait for the completion of the project. Parents will be excited about this. We will make sure that we support the contractor to do a good job,” a community member told the media.

Speaking exclusively to GBC News, Madam Tenga Monica noted that the new classrooms would greatly ease congestion and enhance effective teaching and learning. She explained that for years, students had been studying under difficult conditions, with inadequate classroom space and poor infrastructure affecting academic performance.

“Currently, we are occupying the primary school block for classes. We don’t have a block for the JHS. Even the teachers don’t have an office, no computer lab, and no electricity. So when this project is completed, it’s going to serve a real purpose. I’m personally happy about this,” she explained.

She described the MP’s gesture as timely and a clear demonstration of his commitment to education and community development in the Talensi District.

The MP, Daniel Mahama, in his remarks, reaffirmed his dedication to improving educational infrastructure across the constituency. He stated that education remains a top priority and assured the community that the project would be completed on schedule and to standard.
