Basic schools nationwide re-open today (January 15, 2021) after more than nine months of COVID-19 induced closure.

This is in compliance with President Akufo-Addo’s directive in his last televised address to the nation on measures taken against the spread of COVID-19.

As a result, children in kindergarten, primary and Junior High Schools in both private and public schools will be back in school.

The decision, he said, was made after consultation with stakeholders concluding that, in the current circumstances, the re-opening of schools is safe.

In view of this, government facilitated mass disinfection and fumigation exercise at various Public and Private schools across the country.

Parents have been urged to provide their wards with hand sanitisers and nose masks to protect them from contracting the disease.
