The Basic education certificate examination (BECE) begins on Monday, September 14; however, hundreds of candidates in the Yagaba Kubori district are completely cut off from the examination Centre. The DCE for the Yagaba-Kubori in an interview with GBC said the assembly is liaising with other stakeholders to find ways of bringing the children to the examination center.

He appealed for support from donor agencies to mitigate the impact of the floods.

Meanwhile, herdsmen in the Yagaba-Kubori district have appealed for urgent support to reduce the deaths of their cattle. A herdsman at Yagaba told GBC’s Radio Ghana that he has lost nineteen cows to the floods.

Mr. Hamidu noted that as a result of the incessant rains, herdsmen and most of their cattle are suffering from foot rot. The floods have also covered large portions of grazing land, making feeding difficult for the cattle.

A young herdsman Safian Iddrisu appealed for a life jacket for safety.
