Savannah Regional Minister Salifu Be-Awuribe has strongly condemned the alleged sexual misconduct involving a teacher and a student at Bole Senior High School, describing the incident as unacceptable and one that should never be tolerated.
Speaking in an interview on GTV Breakfast with host Maltiti Sayida Sadick, the Minister said although this act is not peculiar to Bole, he calls for stronger parental involvement and guidance to help address moral and disciplinary challenges among young people.
“The conduct of the Bole SHS teacher is not an act we should condone. Parental control and guidance are things we need to intensify,” he stated.
He stressed that safeguarding students requires a collective effort involving parents, schools, communities and government institutions to promote discipline and protect children from abuse.
Beyond the incident, Mr. Be-Awuribe reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing the broader developmental challenges confronting the Savannah Region.
“We are making every effort to tackle all developmental challenges in the region,” he said, pointing to ongoing investments in road infrastructure, education, healthcare and water supply.
The Minister noted that while government continues to improve social infrastructure, communities also have a responsibility to uphold values that protect children and create safe learning environments.
His comments come amid growing public concern over alleged cases of inappropriate relationships involving students and teachers, with renewed calls for stricter enforcement of professional ethics and child protection measures within Ghana’s educational institutions.
