Calls for supply of more PPEs towards schools reopening next January

Executive Director of Africa Education Watch, Kofi Asare says as the country prepares for the next academic year, lessons learnt from the re-opening for SHS 2 students and BECE candidates should be a guide.

He said with the emergence of a new variant of Covid 19, the GES should ensure that there are enough supply of PPE for all schools and strict adherence to the safety protocols.

Mr. Kofi Asare called on government and the Gender Ministry to roll out interventions to support girls who may be psychologically affected by the impact of Covid-19, due to the long closure of schools.

Meanwhile, the Acting President of the Ghana National Association of Private Schools, GNAPS Dr. Damasus Tuurosong, has appealed to government to be fair to its members in the distribution of PPESas the country prepares to re-open schools in 2021.

He said the closure of schools in the last 9 months has put Private Schools in dire financial problems, thus the need for government’s support at this critical time. Speaking to Radio Ghana, Dr. Tuurosong urged the government to extend its training workshops to Private Schools as well and not limit it only to government schools.
