The Assistant PRO of the Ghana Education Service, Anthony Amoah, says all is set for the smooth take off of the double track system Tuesday September 11.

Speaking to GBC’s Teye Kitcher, Mr. Amoah said parents and students are going through admission processes to begin the new system.

Meanwhile, the Conference of Heads of Assisted Senior High Schools, (CHASS) in the Northern region says it is ready for the smooth take off of the double track system beginning Tuesday.

CHASS says basic educational infrastructure such as additional classrooms, furniture, and dormitories as well as feeding needed for the successful implementation of the system are all in place at the selected Senior High Schools in the region.

In an interview with Radio Ghana in Tamale, the Northern Regional President of CHASS, Shaibu Adam Wilberforce, emphasized that the tracking system is dependent on time since both batches will have only eight weeks in the first semester.

The first batch of students who will be reporting today are those under the Green Track, while the second batch of students, who form the Gold Track, will report to school on November 8, 2018.
The double track is an initiative of the government to address the growing number of students benefiting from the Free Senior High School (SHS) Policy.
At least 490,514 candidates who sat the 2018 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) qualified to be in senior high schools (SHS) and technical institutes for the commencement of the double-track educational system.
They constitute 90 per cent of the 521,710 candidates who registered for the BECE this year.
