Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum has commended the improvements made in Ghana’s education system under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

Speaking at the inauguration of 80 newly built educational facilities across the country, Dr. Adutwum highlighted the government’s commitment to modernising schools and promoting academic excellence since taking office in 2017.

He emphasised that the upgraded infrastructure is crucial for creating effective learning environments.

“You cannot educate 21st-century students in 19th-century buildings and expect modern outcomes,” the Minister said. He added that the newly commissioned facilities are already bringing joy and hope to students.

Drawing inspiration from South Korea’s success, Dr. Adutwum reflected on how the country prioritised education to achieve economic growth.

“In 1960, Ghana’s per capita income was higher than South Korea’s. They advanced by expanding secondary education and focusing on STEM in the 1970s. We are 50 years behind, but we have started, and the progress is evident,” he explained.

The Minister described the 80 new schools as a significant step toward transforming Ghana’s education system and building a brighter future for students nationwide.
