The Ministry of Education has denied reports that the free Senior High School, SHS policy is under review.

Public Relations Officer of the Ministry, Kwasi Kwarteng, told the media that as far as the Ministry of Education and its agencies are concerned, discussions of review have not come to the table of the Ministry or the Minister.

He however noted that the Ministry is on stand by for any review of the policy if such discussions come up. Mr. Kwarteng noted that as things stand, a decision on the review of the policy will go beyond the Education Ministry.

He further maintained that Free SHS is not under financial difficulties, though there are challenges.

Mr. Kwarteng’s reaction followed an interview granted by the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, Prof. Kwesi Opoku-Amankwa where he appeared to have suggested that the free SHS policy is being reviewed to determine how much parents can pay.
