The Ghana Education Service (GES) has provided clarity on how Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) aggregates are calculated, offering guidance to students, parents, and teachers ahead of school placements via the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS)

According to the GES, a candidate’s aggregate is determined by adding grades obtained in the four core subjects English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science, and Social Studies plus the best two grades from the remaining subjects. The formula is as follows:

English + Mathematics + Science + Social Studies + [any two best subjects].

While raw scores remain the primary measure for school placement, the overall aggregate also serves as an important factor in the CSSPS selection process.

The GES further reminded the public that the CSSPS portal is currently live. Candidates are encouraged to log in via https://www.cssps.gov.gh/hub/login to confirm their school choices. Those who notice any discrepancies or have concerns are urged to use the “Message” option on the portal. A dedicated 24-hour CSSPS team is on standby to provide assistance and ensure the process runs smoothly.

The portal will remain active until 8th September 2025, and the GES is encouraging users to provide feedback on their experience.
