The Ghana Education Service (GES) has clarified that teachers who have recently been promoted to new ranks are not required to submit application letters or supporting documents to have their salaries adjusted.
The clarification comes after some newly promoted teachers reportedly received instructions to submit promotion letters, application letters and other documents as part of the salary adjustment process.
In a statement issued on Saturday, August 22, 2026, the GES explained that teachers who move to new ranks are ordinarily placed automatically on the corresponding salary scale.
“Teachers who are promoted to new ranks are usually placed automatically on the appropriate salary scale to reflect the new ranks. This existing practice has not changed,” the statement said.
The Service has therefore advised teachers affected by the directive to disregard requests to submit documents for salary adjustments.
Management said it was engaging the regions and districts reportedly requesting the additional documentation to resolve the matter.
The GES also urged teachers to remain calm while the issue is being addressed.
