The Ghana Education Service (GES), has debunked claims of fixed cut-off points for school placement, clarifying that the system is based primarily on candidates’ raw scores.

According to GES, other factors influencing placement include the competitiveness of schools and programmes, candidates’ aggregates, residential preferences, and catchment area considerations.

The Service described the spread of so-called cut-off benchmarks on social media as “misleading and mischievous” and urged the public to disregard them.

“We assure all stakeholders of a transparent, fair, and merit-based placement system that gives every candidate the opportunity they deserve,” the statement emphasized.

GES added that the CSSPS Review and Confirmation Portal is live until September 8, 2025, and encouraged all candidates to confirm their selected schools.
