The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that the government has approved an extension of financial clearance to cover all staff recruited in 2024 who are yet to be paid.

In an official statement signed by the Acting Director-General of GES, Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, dated October 20, 2025, outlined that all regional directors have been directed to urgently compile and submit the documents of affected staff to the Human Resource Management and Development (HRMD) Secretariat at GES Headquarters by Wednesday, October 22, 2025.

According to the statement, the extension aims to ensure that all unpaid recruited staff in 2024 are duly mechanised and receive their salaries by the end of November 2025. The directive applies to staff who have been validated but remain unpaid  including those with staff IDs and those without, covering graduates from Colleges of Education, other universities, and newly recruited non-teaching personnel.

“The Management of the Ghana Education Service is pleased to inform you that cabinet has granted approval for the extension of financial clearance originally issued in 2024,” the statement read. It further urged regional directors to treat the directive as urgent and ensure full compliance to facilitate a smooth and timely completion of the process.

The communication was copied to the Chairman of the GES Council, Deputy Director-Generals, the Director of HRMD, Chief Internal Auditor, Director of Finance, and the Head of the Payroll Unit at GES Headquarters.

This move is expected to bring relief to many newly recruited staff members who have been waiting for months to be placed on the government payroll.
