Ghana Education Service (GES) has reviewed its sanctions imposed on some students who misconducted themselves during the ongoing West African Senior Certificate Examination (WASSCE) on August 3, 2020.

The review follows President Akufo-Addo’s directive to the Education Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh to engage the GES on Monday, August 10.

The 13 students, barred from writing their remaining papers over various acts of vandalism, are now permitted to take their WASSCE in their respective schools.

They are Nicholas Cobbinah, Kardimell Suapim, John Kwofie, all of Sekondi College; Simon Ameyibor and Juliet Amoakowaa of Tweneboah Koduah SHS; Emmanuel Ashiangmor, Peter Sissi, Ameka Nyamiitse, Shadrack Daitey and Alfred Attiso of Battor SHS; Solomon Brako, Albert Agyekum, and Robert Inkoom of Juaben SHS.

However, the GES in a statement on Monday, August 10, said, the affected students remain dismissed.

“Heads of affected schools should allow the students involved to come to the compounds to write any paper they are due under guardian escort,” the statement signed by Director-General of GES, Kwasi Opoku Amankwa, noted.
