‎The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that it will investigate allegations of examination malpractice during the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), following a report aired by JoyNews TV.

‎In a statement issued on Sunday, September 7, and signed by the Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, the GES said it had taken notice of reports of cheating in some schools during the exams.

‎The Service stated that it would obtain a copy of the full JoyNews documentary, including original transcripts, to enable a thorough review before commencing a full-scale investigation.

‎“Management reiterates its absolute aversion to examination malpractice. Cheating undermines the integrity of our education system, destroys meritocracy, and produces graduates who lack the competencies required for national development,” the statement read.

‎The GES further noted that it has the backing of the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, and the GES Council to sanction any official—teaching or non-teaching—found guilty of aiding or abetting malpractice. Such individuals, it warned, would face severe disciplinary action under the law and Service regulations.

‎GES assures all stakeholders that it remains committed to safeguarding the credibility of examinations. It pledged to work closely with WAEC, National Security, and law enforcement agencies to eliminate exam malpractices.
