Minister for Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, has announced that Ghana is to inculcate climate change into the educational curriculum to enable students to understand issues associated with the global weather phenomenon.

Tasking world leaders to take advantage of opportunities that come with climate change by tweaking basic and tertiary curricula, Dr. Yaw Adutwum said this will improve teaching across the globe.

Accompanying President Akufo-Addo and the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, and some officials from the Presidency at the Global Education Summit in the United Kingdom, Dr Osei Adutwum pledged government’s support to improve education by suggesting solutions to climate change issues.

The Global Education Summit on the theme, Financing Global Partnership for Education (GPE) 2021-2025, will be a key moment for the global community to come together and support quality education for all children.

The summit will also give an opportunity for leaders to make five-year pledges to support GPE’s work to help transform education across the globe.

Topics for discussion at the summit include how countries can use education to prepare young people for the challenge of climate change, its threats to education, and how they can be mitigated.

Participating countries include Ghana, Tanzania, D.R.Congo, Malawi, Sierra Leone and South Sudan. The entourage is expected back home on Sunday, August 1, 2021.
