GNAT calls for extension of reopening date for SHSs

The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has called for an extension of the reopening date for Senior High Schools.

General Secretary of GNAT, David Ofori Akyeampong, said the extension will allow parents and students adequate time to prepare.

Mr. Akyeampong who was speaking with an Accra based private station said the period between the release of the results and re-opening is too short.

He said the Ghana’s Internet Facility is poor and may not be able to contain the pressure from Thousands of first-year students accessing it to check their placement.

Meanwhile, Vice Chairman of Parliament’s Committee on Education, Johnson Kwaku Adu, has supported the call.

He however urged parents not to panic with the system because measures are in place to resolve any challenges.
