Government has distributed three thousand (3,000) school uniforms to Basic Schools in the Jomoro Municipality of the Western Region to enhance quality and affordable education.

Additionally, 210 English Dictionaries and 15 boxes of chalk were distributed to the schools.

Presenting the items on behalf of the government to the Jomoro Municipal Education Directorate at Half Assini, the MCE, Mr. Ernest Kofie, noted that the gesture would go a long way to facilitate effective teaching and learning in  schools and  also help needy but serious minded students to participate actively in school.

The MCE reminded the Directorate that government and the assembly were fully aware of their responsibilities towards quality education and revealed that government had put up a lot of strategic interventions to match up with the task.

He commended President Akufo-Addo for the bold initiative to roll out the free SHS programme, thereby, making education a priority.

The MCE promised to distribute 800 mono and dual desks to some selected needy schools in the area by the end of March this year (2019).

He disclosed that the Assembly had completed the renovation of a 6-unit classroom block at Ehoaka and construction of a new 3-unit classroom block at Mpeasem as part of measures to ensure holistic education.

“A lot is being done to improve the quality of education for our children, but there is a lot more to be done. I therefore call on all stakeholders in education delivery, to play their respective roles well. I believe with effective collaboration and cooperation, we can do more for education and others in the Municipality”.

The Municipal Education Director of the area, Mr. George Effah thanked the government for the kind gesture and pledged to use the items to achieve their intended purposes.

He appealed to the Assembly to provide a duty post for the renovated education office complex.
