Work is progressing steadily on a befitting six-unit classroom block and an ultramodern KG block with offices and a 12-unit W/C toilet facility being constructed for the Gurumaline Islamic School in Kintampo.
The facility, being funded by GETFund, includes a day nursery and a modern 12-seater toilet facility for boys and girls fitted with a water closet system powered by a borehole drilled by the contractor.
MP for Kintampo North, Mr. Joseph Kwame Kumah.
The Member of Parliament for Kintampo North, Mr. Joseph Kwame Kumah, said he lobbied the GETFund Secretariat as Vice Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Education to secure the project to ensure Kintampo North was not left out after the National Education Forum held in the Volta Region.
“Apart from the common fund projects that we have visited, what we are seeing here is what I lobbied for from GETFund as Vice Chairman of the Education Select Committee. For Gurumaline Islamic, we have a six-unit classroom block with its accessories like a day nursery, and just in front a 12-seater toilet facility for boys and girls,” he explained.
He noted that previously the school had no toilet facility and no changing room for girls.
“There was no toilet facility, there was no changing room for girls especially during their menstrual cycle. All those things were not part of the old structures, but under the reset agenda of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, this must be part,” he stated.
MCE for Kintampo North, Isaac Donkor.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Kintampo North, Isaac Donkor, described the project as the handiwork of President Mahama and the NDC government, adding that it is one of about seven classroom projects ongoing in the municipality.
“This is the handiwork of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama. That is the NDC government. So what we are seeing now is just one out of a lot. This is Gurumaline Islamic Primary, where you are seeing a six-unit classroom block, a very modern one, we have a 12-seater washroom and also a modern KG,” he said.
“When you go to Gulumpe, there is a similar project equally going on. The handiwork of this same contractor, we are seeing this very excellent work. He is the same very person who is doing that work there with teachers’ accommodation inclusive,” he added.
“The community is very happy. You can see the whole community gathered here seeing the project that is going on and more are on the way coming,” he added.
Bono East Regional Minister, Mr. Francis Owusu Antwi.
The Bono East Regional Minister, Francis Owusu Antwi, who inspected the project, lauded the MP, the MCE and the former MP for the area, Mr. Kwasi Etu-Bonde, who is currently the Technical Advisor to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, for working together to realise the government’s resetting agenda.
He expressed satisfaction over the quality and progress of work on the project.
