KNUST begins PHD in Law from September 2019

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is to start a PhD in Law program from the 2019-2020 academic year which begins from September this year.

Already, the University has graduated its pioneer class of Master of Law or LLM as of February this year.

Provost of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Professor Imoro Braimah, made this known in Kumasi at the 53rd Congregation of the University.

In all, 1,608 students of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences graduated after four years of study in English, French, Law, Sociology, Akan among other programmes.

The graduating Class was made up of 53% females and 47% males. The Congregation is being held in sessions notably among the six Colleges due to the large numbers involved.

Provost of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. Braimah announced that the University is preparing to introduce Executive LLM in specialized legal fields.

Prof. Braimah said, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences is to start a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from next academic year to create greater opportunity for prospective media practitioners and related fields.

The Provost advised the graduates to be humble, innovative and purposeful in their endeavours.

A former Managing Director of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation, BOST, Kwame Awuah Darko, said with the waning trust and confidence in the judiciary and the political class by the people with just a little recognition for the traditional system, social sciences are now the hope of society to find solutions to the challenges therein.

The Valedictorian, Joel Ansah, who graduated with a Cumulative Weighted Average, CWA of 80.85%, thanked management of KNUST for creating an equal opportunity for all, especially applicants from less endowed schools while providing financial support to needy students.
