Methodist University College holds virtual 18th congregation

The Methodist University has held its first virtual congregation for its 18 graduate students. The virtual congregation was well organized and saw all graduating class joining from their homes through the MUCG’s social media platforms.

The graduates and faculties were commended for putting up their best despite the challenges. At the ceremony, the President of the Methodist University College Ghana, Prof Obenefo Akwasi Asabere Ameyaw announced that the MUCG is awaiting approval from the National Accreditation Board to introduce 12 new programmes.

The programmes are BSc in Nursing, MSc in Information Technology, MA in Educational Assessment and Evaluation, MA in Educational Administration and Supervision, MA in Educational Leadership and School Improvement, MA in Entrepreneurship and Corporate Strategy, MPhil in Educational Assessment and Evaluation and MPhil in Educational Administration and Supervision.

The rest are MPhil in Educational Leadership and School Improvement, MPhil in Entrepreneurial and Corporate Strategy and PhD in Education, Educational Assessment and Evaluation.

 

The president of the university college, Professor Akwasi Asabere-Ameyaw, also disclosed that the university is also awaiting approval to run Doctor of Counselling Psychology.”

The graduation class was made up of Master of Business Administration (114) and Master of Education and Entrepreneurial (81), making 195.
the Faculty of Business Administration, had three First class, 66 Second class Upper, 148 Second class Lower and 11 third class totalling 228.

In the Faculty of Arts and General Studies; 10 students had First class, 22 had Second class Upper, 20 had Second class Lower and two had third class with a total of 54.

The Faculty of Science had 36 students with seven having First class, 16 Second class upper, 11 Second class lower and two third class.

The president of the MUCG, Prof Obenefo Akwasi Asabere Ameyaw urged the graduates to give up short term mindsets and rather set and work at long term goals that will see their success. The Presiding Bishop of the Methodist church, Dr Paul Boafo encouraged the graduates to be good ambassadors of the university by upholding the skills, attitudes and training impacted to them.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba, PROF Anthony Afful- Broni commended the MUCG for maintaining standards and discipline. He acknowledged the impact the university college is making in higher education in Ghana and urged them to keep up the good works. Prof Afful Broni was quick to remind the MUCG that the university of Education is still determined to mentor it to ensure growth.
