NAGRAT reiterates calls for closure of Senior High Schools

The National Association Of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) has called for the closure of Senior High Schools (SHS) due to reports that some students have contracted the coronavirus in schools.

Speaking on news and current affairs programme “Behind the News” on Uniiq FM, the President of NAGRAT, Angel Carbonu explained that the indefinite closure of schools now will be timely to stop the spread of the disease and avoid needless deaths.

National President of the Council of PTAs, Alex Danso said the call is pre-mature and urged parents to exercise restraint.

Deputy Ranking Member on the Education Committee of Parliament, Dr. Clement Apaak said the closure is in the right direction as government has failed to ensure the safety of students by rushing to re-open the schools without proper road maps.
