Nigerian Economist, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Lauds Government's Double Track System

A Nigerian economist, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has commended Ghana for adopting the double track system for some selected Senior High Schools in the country.

Reacting to an article wrtten by Viva Obi Professor Chukwuka Okonjo, (Hippolyt A S Pul, PhD), titled – “Double Intake Has Resurrected And Is Alive” published in Modern Ghana’s July 30, edition, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on August 20, 2018, tweeted:, “So inspired that the Government of Ghana is adopting the double intake system for Senior High School entrants starting in September 2018 to take care of the large numbers of.”

The Government of Ghana is introducing the double-track SHS system which will accommodate the increase in enrolment in the Senior High School and further reduce the class sizes of students and also increase contact hours between teachers and students.

According to President Akufo-Addo, the double-track system has become necessary because in the 2018/2019 academic year, the Free SHS will admit about four hundred and seventy-two thousand new students and it will be absorbed by the double-track system.
