The West African Examinations Council, WAEC has debunked claims by Africa Education Watch that the Food and Nutrition Examination Papers in the ongoing West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate Examination, WASSCE were leaked to the public.

Briefing Journalists in Accra, Head of the National Office of WAEC, Mrs. Wendy Lamptey said the information is misleading and creating anxiety amongst the candidates. She said the paper contained only guidelines distributed to the teachers to enable them to prepare.

Mrs. Lamptey said the doors of WAEC are always opened to Eduwatch and other stakeholders and will ensure that the hard-earned reputation of the Council is safeguarded.

The Africa Education Watch reported that the WASSCE 2021 Food and Nutrition Paper leaked ahead of the Examination. It took steps to inform WAEC on Friday, August 20,2021 that the Food and Nutrition Paper 3 which was initially scheduled to be written by candidates on Friday August 20, 2021 at 1:30 pm had been compromised.

Head of National Office at WAEC, Mrs. Wendy Lamptey said the purported question paper forwarded by the Education Think Tank is entirely different from the actual question paper taken by the students. She said the forwarded paper was full of grammatical errors and could not have emanated from WAEC.

She added that this is not the first time the Council had received such a misleading circulation from Eduwatch. Mrs. Lamptey said the Council is happy with the approach the media took in treating the issue.

The West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination, WASSCE, which will end on Friday, 8th October,2021 is being administered to 446,321 candidates, from 965 schools, comprising 221,437 males and 234,884 females in 763 Examination Centers.
