The Nurses and Midwifery Council will for the first time conduct open accreditation of institutions mandated to train nurses and midwives.
This is to ensure transparency in the process and address the barrage of criticism of the council having been engaging in dubious ways to license institutions who want to train nurses and midwives.
This came up during the 50th Anniversary celebration of the Council in Accra.
In a speech read on behalf of the Minister of Health, the Chairman of the NMC Governing Board Rev. Veronica Darko charged the council to exhibit a high sense of clarity and ensure that each institution meets the standards set by the council to provide quality education and training for practitioners.
