The Ghana Muslim Students Association at St. John Bosco College of Education at Navrongo in the Upper East Region have expressed disappointment at the sorry state of their prayer grounds. They say the only prayer grounds for the Muslim Community in the school looks like a tennis court, or a ground for drying flour but not a mosque. According to the students, they squat under the trees that are closer to the prayer grounds for shade during prayers.

They suffer from sunburns in the heat season and rains disrupt their prayers during the rainy season. All these coupled with invasion of animals during jummah prayers are the reasons for the need of a decent mosque for the Muslim community in the school. They said the Muslim Community in the campus are unable to do so because of financial constraints.

“We are calling for support to put up a decent mosque for our prayers in school. We have a greater number on campus yet we pray under bad weather conditions”, the  students narrated.

The current place of worship is a flat ground not far from the Catholic Church but before Aggrey Hall. It has a very small wall raised, with a thorn canopy providing broken shade to a few people. They are therefore appealing to the public, especially philanthropists and benevolent organizations to come to their aid.

“We are seeking help from the public to help us in this direction. Religious tolerance has offered us the chance to organize ourselves and also practice our religion here. But if it should be practiced, it should be practiced well.”  a member pleaded.
