Parents have been urged to partner teachers in the planning of their children’s educational growth especially in the selection of their SHS.

The Chief Executive Officer of Pinasol Foundation, a non- governmental organization, Solomon Okyere Asiamah who made the appeal, acknowledged the overwhelming increase in unemployment in the country and called for an immediate shift in the educational system from the read and write system to more of a practical, technical and vocational-oriented one.

He made the comment at a career counseling workshop organized for Junior High school students in some selected schools in the Sekyere East District at Effiduase.

It was designed to help the students develop more interest in acquiring technical and vocational knowledge in choosing their career.

Head of monitoring and supervision at the Sekyere East District Education Unit, Frank Opoku advised the youth to seek job opportunities from the vocational and technical sector and not only depend on government for employment.

He said the system is choked with unemployed graduates and therefore urged teachers to help students to develop more interest in technical knowledge instead of white colour  jobs.

Some of the students who benefited from the training shared their knowledge.
