Consideration of the controversial Public Universities Bill 2020 has been suspended pending further engagement with stakeholders such as the University Teachers Association of Ghana. Parliament read the Bill the second time.

This sparked concerns from stakeholders in the educational sector leading to a meeting between the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG), Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the Minister of Education.

Briefing the Parliamentary press corps after the meeting, Chairman of the Education Committee in Parliament, William Agyapong Quaitoo gave the assurance that the House will not be in a rush to get the Bill passed.
