Mr David Osafo Ntim, a 16-year-old philanthropist, Ghanaian-American with family ties to Kwahu Pepease, has provided computers and their accessories worth US$10,000 to equip the Pepease Basic School.

The gesture was to promote effective teaching and learning of Information, Communications Technology (ICT) in the area.

The items presented were 20 desktop computers, laptops, printers, projectors, electrical equipment and ceiling fans.

The stocked ICT center that was renovated by the Ntim Family from Kwahu Pepease was also connected to the internet to enable students in the area to have access to the internet.

Mr Ntim who is a Senior High School student at the Charlotte Christian School in North Carolina, USA, in his quest to support ICT education in Ghana launched a project dubbed ‘Tech to Africa Project’ that was to solicit support from individuals and family members for the promotion of Technology in Africa, especially in Ghana.

The tech-to-Africa project was done with support from David Osafo Ntim parents, Dr. William Ofori Ntim and Mrs. Sally Ntim and in collaboration with the Charlotte Christian School.

At a ceremony to unveil the edifice, Mr. Frederick Osafo Ntim, who made the presentation on his behalf pledged the support of the Ntim’s family to help develop education, health, and the well-being of the people of Pepease.

He said the Ntim’s family had supported the Pepease community by building a three- units classroom block for the Pepease D/A school and provided scholarships to needy students.

He said the family would take the cost of maintenance of the ICT laboratory and also employ a resident technician to take care of the facilities provided.

Mr Ntim assured of the family’s continuous support to promote health and education in the area and called on community members to give them maximum support to enable them to carry out more developmental projects.

He, therefore, urged the school authorities to take good care of the facility to enable it last.

Mr Andah Monney, the Kwahu East District Director of Education who received the keys on behalf of the school applauded the Ntim’s Family for the gesture and promised to ensure its maintenance.

Miss Irene Djabakour Djorbuah, the Headteacher of the Pepease Presbyterian Basic School said with the introduction of the ICT laboratory in the school, enrollment had increased massively and pleaded for additional classroom blocks to enable them to adhere to the government’s social distancing measures.

She lauded the District Reverend Minister of the Pepease Presbyterian Church, Ghana, Reverend Kennedy Twum- Barimah for helping to bring the project to the school adding that it would go a long way to promote ICT education in the community.
