President Akufo-Addo has charged the youth to use their energy, passion and courage to identify and address complex and global problems.

He said government is a firm believer of the potential of the youth and will continue to equip, train, support and give them a level playing field.

President Akufo-Addo was speaking at the Jubilee House in Accra for the 2022 Gold Presentation of the Head of State Awards Scheme.

In all, two hundred young people between the ages of 14 and 24 years who have successfully completed all four sectional requirements and the residential project of the scheme were awarded by the President.

The Scheme which has been in existence in Ghana for over 50 years is responsible for equipping the youth with skills, amd experience aimed at preparing them for life.

The programmes under the scheme are tailored towards instilling the virtues, discipline and civic responsibility and obligation of leadership in the youth.

President Akufo-Addo said the aspirations of the youth and the ability to meet their full potential remain largely unmet due to current economic challenges.

He said the skills gap that exists can be bridged with programmes such as the award schemes which creates opportunities for the youth to own their skills and become all-round citizen.

The President said the youth are indispensable but yet underutilized force in tackling global poverty and inequalities.

The Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Harry Sintim Aboagye explained the modalities for the award and it would propel recipients to higher heights.
