The Coalition of Private School Teachers, Ghana has advised all private school teachers in the country to be calm and avoid any violent agitation over the government’s decision for basic schools to remain closed till 2021.

According to the Coalition, the President cannot be challenged on the matter.

In a statement, the National President of the Coalition, Nana Kwame Duodu said though the group rejects the reasons for denying Ghanaian children their right to education for almost a year and also denying private school teachers their livelihood, they will not lead their members into any act that will inflict further physical pain in an already deplorable situation.

The Coalition noted that if Italy, one of the worst hit countries in the world, is reopening schools on the 14th of September, why can’t Ghana do same.

The statement also suggests that the silence of all political parties, religious leaders, the media, civil society organizations on issue attests to the fact that Ghana as a country does not prioritize the education.
