Public raise red flag on Private Schools Association COVID-19 donation

Some Ghanaians have decried the donation of 50,000 cedis by the Ghana National Association of Private Schools to the COVID-19 Relief Fund.  They believe the donation showed the insensitivity of the group towards the plight of a teeming number of private school teachers and staff who have not been paid since the closure of schools last month due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

Reacting to this concern, the Executive Director of the Ghana National Council of Private Schools, Enoch Jetuah said he was also taken aback by the action of its sister group after the Council petitioned government for financial support for distressed teachers and staff.

He explained that the Ghana National Association of Private School comprise Proprietors and Managers of Private Schools while the Private Schools Council is made up of teachers, staff and PTAs.

On GNACOPS petition to government for financial support, Mr. Jetuah said a meeting has been scheduled with the Ministry of Finance on Monday, May 4.
