The National School Feeding Caterers Association is demanding a 300% increase in the school feeding grants following increases in prices of food items. The Caterers told journalists in Accra that they are dissatisfied with the current charge of 97 pesewas per plate which they say, is making it extremely difficult for them to continue cooking for the Pupils.

Speaking on Behind the News, Secretary of the Association, Helena Appiah said the Caterers are demanding an increase from the 97 pesewas per plate to at least GHC2 per plate. She stressed that they will not take anything short of that, otherwise they will have to ”stop cooking”.

Madam Helena Appiah said several attempts to reach the School Feeding Coordinator has proved futile. The Caterers say they expect a positive response from government soon.

Meanwhile a meeting has been scheduled with the Caterers on Monday, May 16, 2022 to find a lasting solution to the issue.
