Season 2 of ‘National Junior’s Challenge’ launched

An educationist and former President of the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS), Samuel Ofori-Adjei, has urged the Ghana Education Service (GES) to merge relative subjects under the proposed nine subjects to be studied by Basic Schools.

He said that will also remove irrelevances from the Curriculum.

Mr Ofori-Adjei said it will also help students and pupils to learn specifics of a particular subject suitable for their level.

He made the point in an interview with GBC’s Radio Ghana at the launch of Season Two of the ‘National Junior’s Challenge’ in Accra.

The National Junior’s Challenge was instituted by the UNIWIZ Foundation, an NGO last year.

It is a GES recognized Educational TV Programme. It seeks to promote Basic Education through competitive quizzing to unearth talents in the youth.

The contest will enhance the analytical and thinking ability of students at the Basic Education Level to solve problems and promote interest in acquiring knowledge in Mathematics, Science and Social Studies.

Former CHASS President, Samuel Ofori-Adjei in an interview suggested to the GES to integrate subjects at the Basic Schools to reduce the workload.

The founder of UNIWIZ Foundation, Wisdom Quarme-Doe, urged the GES to support the programme.

Season Two will have 36 qualified schools selected from seven regions with 108 contestants participating in 13 episodes.
