Koforidua Technical University to run nine new courses in Technology

The Koforidua Technical University has secured approval from the Ghana Accreditation board to run nine newly bachelor courses in Technology.

These include Mechatronic Engineering, Civil Engineering with options in Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Material Engineering and Water Resource Engineering.

The Vice-Chancellor of the School, Prof. David Kofi Essumang announced this when he addressed the 17th congregation for Bachelor of Technology Graduates at Koforidua, in the Eastern Region.

A total of 391 Bachelor of Technology graduates met all the requirements for the award of degrees, Diplomas and certificates. Out of the figure, 41 had first class, 206 obtained second class upper, 142 earned second class lower while two got a pass.

The Vice-Chancellor of the Koforidua Technical University, Prof. David Kofi Essumang lauded government’s determination to promote science and technology for industrial development.

He said residential accommodation for staff members and students and auditorium remains the greatest challenge facing the school and appealed to government through the Ministry of Education to help address these challenges to enhance effective teaching and learning.

The Council Chairman of Koforidua Technical University, Prof. Samuel Obeng Apori urged them to embrace the vocational and technical skills acquisition programme to be rolled out by the government geared towards youth employment.

Master Yaw Borney, was adjudged the overall best student in bachelor of Technology (B.TECH), best graduating female engineering student went to Ernestina Mirekuaa while Helena Akosua Marfowaa won the Vice Chancellor’s special award.
