President of the Legon branch, University Teachers Association of Ghana, UTAG Dr Harry Agbanu says the appointment of the current Vice Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba was illegal and inappropriate, that noting that what government should have done, was to wait for the Supreme Court’s pronouncement, before taking action.

Speaking to Radio Ghana, Dr Agbanu called on the current Vice Chancellor to resign. He urged government to remove its appointees on the Governing Council of the University.

Meanwhile, Counsel for the reinstated Vice Chancellor of the University of Education Winneba, Prof Harold Atuguba has expressed  satisfaction with the Supreme court’s decision to quash the High Court ruling to remove Prof. Mawutor Avoke from office.
In an interview with Radio Ghana  Professor Harold Atuguba said there is the need to restrain celebrations as this is just the first step.
However, MP for Efutu and Counsel for the Plaintiff in the case, Afenyo Markin has debunked claims that the Supreme court’s ruling gave an indication that the induction of Prof. Afful Broni as Vice Chancellor of UEW should have been put in hold. According to him the order by the court does not reinstate Prof. Avorke.
